Is the free tier really free forever?
Yes. The desktop and mobile apps are fully functional with no account required. The free tier is not a trial — it's how most people will use Ties.
What happens to my data if I cancel a subscription?
Your data is always yours. Cancelling sync means the cloud copy stops updating, but your local files remain intact. You can export or self-sync at any time.
What is MCP?
Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard for giving AI assistants structured access to your data. With Ties Plus, Claude, ChatGPT, and other MCP-compatible AI tools can read your contacts, journal, and reminders in real time.
Can I self-host the sync server?
Not officially — Ties is not packaged as a Docker image. The free tier is the self-hosted experience: local files + your own sync tool (Git, Syncthing, Dropbox). The paid sync tier uses the hosted server.
